Jyväskylä Sinfonia consists of 38 musicians and is known for its versatile and broad-minded way of interpreting music. The history of the orchestra, founded in 1955, has seen various stages, among them phases as a private organization and as a communal unit. The orchestra has operated in its present form since 1965. Nowadays, the orchestra is the cornerstone of the cultural life in Jyväskylä and in Central Finland and very popular among its listeners.
The orchestras Chief Conductor is Ville Matvejeff and the Principal Guest Conductor is Moshe Atzmon.
